In a previous post, I wrote about a new friend who shared many things with me, including her personality traits and interests.
Basically, she sent me a private message that mentioned how lucky I am to be able to do what I love and have the financial freedom to continue doing so.
I replied to her and said that her statement was true and accurate. I am indeed privileged to have the financial freedom and flexibility to do what I love. This includes following my passion for writing and blogging. However, there is a back-story.
I explained many things to her. How I had to struggle to break free and move from my family home. My dad would try to convince me to go back to Saudi every time he got the opportunity to do so. As such, I continue to fight for what I want to do. All of this came with a heavy price.
The truth is, no one living on this earth has it all. Yet, we are all connected. So while I did have the financial aid while growing up, I never had love or emotional support. My parents are narcissists and very distant. So it was as if there were not there for us. They thought that by providing for us financially, we would be happy.
I could go on about my childhood and my adulthood even (I’m 37 now), but I will leave that for another post. I’m a firm believer in the notion that we can create our own reality. My friend might not have the financial flexibility to leave her full-time job, But, she can start to achieve that by taking baby steps towards a different life. One where she can actually follow her passion and turn that into a career.
A palm reader once told me at a legendary temple in Hong Kong: “You will be happy when you are forty.” At that time, I was only 32 years old. But, I wasn’t bothered by her words. That’s because throughout my life, nothing came easy to me. I always had to work hard for every little or big thing I wanted. That’s why, the fortune teller’s reading wasn’t a surprise to me. In fact, it was only natural I have to struggle harder in life. That has always been my life pattern.
So, the next time you face any type of adversity or challenge in your life, try to look for the bright side of the situation. Take it as a learning and growth opportunity and start manifesting your own reality. We are all connected on unique journeys.
