What being Single for a Long Time Taught me about Myself

It’s been a while since I wrote a blog post, and I honestly don’t feel like writing today, either. So I’ll keep this one short.

How are you feeling post the most brutal and intense Mercury Retrograde? I personally had wonderful breakthroughs – of course, in addition to releasing old energy through my dreams and feelings.

This past Retrograde was wild, to say the least. And I’m super grateful for the breakthroughs it offered. These breakthroughs were mainly related to toxic old patterns and ways of relating to others. Particularly when it comes to allowing toxic friendships in my life. I now feel depleted because of this past Retrograde and because we’re now in the full moon’s energy!

I wanted to keep this blog post short and simple because Full Moons are difficult times. We all tend to feel confused and down, and that’s perfectly normal. All you need to do is bring awareness to the patterns or ways you’re ready to let go of.

As a reminder, the Full Moon energy lasts four days before and after the actual Full Moon night. This month, the Full Moon is on the 9th of October. So try to take things easy for the next week or so.

What being Single for a Long Time Teaches you about yourself

In last week’s Thursday Thoughts blog post, I wrote about my honest feelings about being single and how I don’t really like this stage.

You could read that blog post here if you missed it. Today, I wanted to encourage you to make the most out of this life stage if you’re not already doing so. Being single for a long time is an excellent opportunity to discover your true self and get to know your likes and dislikes. Take this time to be intentional in everything that you do. Find your hobbies, passions and interests.

Examples of Self-discovery

Uncovering your likes and interests can be as simple as figuring out how you like to drink your coffee. What type of coffee do you like to drink in the morning? In the winter season? In the summer months? Does this type of coffee change depend on the time of day? Does it change based on your mood?

Exploring what types of food or cuisines you like are another one. When cooking for yourself, what do you like to make? Do you have specific cuisines that you stick to? Do you like simple and authentic eateries or fine dining experiences? Or maybe a blend of both?

When you travel, what types of hotels do you enjoy staying in? Do you like staying in big hotel chains? In small boutique hotels? Or do you go for small luxury hotels and unique design hotels?

How do you prefer to spend your free time and weekends? Do you like going out or staying at home? Are you in your element when going out to bars and clubs? Do you avoid crowded, busy places? Are you happy in quiet and peaceful spots?

When in Dubai, for example, I love spending my weekends cooking, testing new recipes or practicing old ones.

I also like exploring the restaurant scene and specifically breakfast spots. But that’s just me because I’m a foodie.

Have you Been Single for A long Time?

Anyway, let me know how you like discovering things about yourself in this single phase of life and what you’ve learned about your true self so far.

Talk to you next week, when the energy is hopefully less dense and heavy.
