Bangkok Self-Discovery Journey
The last thing I expected when traveling to Bangkok was to uncover a big aspect about my personality. If you missed the story about how the big city helped me find my true self, you can read this blog post.
That’s why I like slow travel and spending a month in one place. Because that’s how long it takes for synchronicity to happen. Take my last Bangkok trip as an example of that. I spent eight nights in the city at one hotel. Then left to Hua Hin for the same amount of time. Then I got back to Bangkok for another eight nights. The major incidents that showed me who I truly am in essence happened in the last few days of my 25 days in Thailand!
The crazy thing is that uncovering my true self with a Bangkok trip was so unexpected. But that’s exactly why travel is always a great idea.
Misaligned Connection
Speaking about travel, I used to be part of an online social network for people who love travel. I was on that platform for around five years before I decided to de-activate my account.
Although I didn’t really make any friends through that social network, there was one woman who I connected with. She seemed to be into spirituality as well. She was married and had a daughter.
We kept writing messages to each other talking about all sorts of topics from travel to spirituality and how she met her husband.
After about a year or something of connecting with her, she decided to visit Dubai on a vacation with her family. I was happy to share with her some suggestions on what to do and see and where to go.
The couple invited me for dinner once and I accepted. When we met, I realized how different she was in real life to what I expected. She seemed pretentious and not that friendly.
To keep a long story short, I felt like the energy was off and she made me feel uncomfortable in many ways. Although I spent the evening with her and husband, I later kept wondering what the reason behind our encounter was.
Because I’m a very spiritual person, I believe that there’s a reason for any encounter with any person.
I kept reflecting on why the Universe brought us together and how misaligned the connection felt.
The Pattern Repetition until you Learn the Lesson
I kept trying to find a reason for my encounter with that woman from the travel social network. I knew that there must have been a reason that I connected with her and eventually met her and her husband when they visited Dubai.
After not being able to figure out a reason, I just let it go.
Fast forward to my recent Bangkok trip, after a series of incidents helped me uncover my hippie self, I finally found the answer to that misaligned Dubai encounter!
Because that travel social network had mostly people from big cities all over the world, I didn’t really connect with anyone or make new friends. And that woman was no exception!
Of course, I only realized this fact clearly after discovering how much I hate big cities and city people.
And I basically needed to spend 25 days in Thailand to get to this realization!
So after my Bangkok trip, I realized that the encounter with that woman and her husband was the Universe’s way telling me that I don’t get along with big city people.
People who love big cities think, behave, act, live and connect in a certain way.
When I met that woman and her husband, I could see clearly how they are big city people. But I didn’t see how this fact strongly relates to uncovering my true self.
I just thought that I don’t like people who talk about devices, apps and digital stuff all the time. I noticed this in my building elevator too. But I didn’t link it to my soul essence and how much this personality type is misaligned with my soul.
That’s why I ended up learning this major lesson in Bangkok. Because the story will keep being repeated until you learn the lesson that the Universe wants you to learn.
Did you experience a similar pattern in your life that keeps being repeated until you learned a certain lesson?
And when you eventually learn it, it’s because the Universe made you see things so clearly and it felt like the earth was moved from under your feet just so you could see the lesson clearly!
Let me know in the comments if you also had something show up for you so boldly just so you can uncover a big thing or learn a major lesson.
Love,
Leela
