Wellness Wednesday: Morning Rituals – Let’s Create Them

How you start your day has a huge impact on how the rest of it unfolds. It will also eventually significantly improve your life.

In the not so distant past, I used to struggle to wake up early.  I would be greatly impressed by those who woke up at sunrise daily. It felt like an impossible dream or something completely out of my reach.

This was before I had started my healing journey. Even after attending a couple of wellness retreats in Bali and Sri Lanka, the idea of waking up at sunrise was so alien to me that I couldn’t sustain it.

An Early Morning Start

These days, I set my alarm to 6:00 am, 6:15 am and 6:30 am. I usually get up at 6 and I feel like I’ve wasted so much valuable time when I fail to wake up at 6:00 because of sleeping late or being tired.

Waking up earlier than our usual rising time is the first step towards starting our days in a more fulfilling and positive way. Another key thing is to create a morning routine which helps us stay in a positive and elevated mood throughout the rest of the day. This morning ritual can evolve as you do and it doesn’t have to be rigid.

Let me share with you my morning ritual for some inspiration. As soon as I wake up – and after using the washroom – I spend about 15 to 20 minutes sitting silently in the balcony.  I observe my thoughts and emotions without giving them any power or attaching to them. I’m grateful for the Dubai cooler weather which allows me to meditate outdoors. In the summer, I have a different practice.

Meditation and Manifestation

After a short meditation session, I spend about 20 to 25 minutes setting the intention for finding my life partner. I visualize our life together, and feel the emotions associated with the goal. I think about it as if it has already happened and is present in my reality.

This powerful manifestation practice is followed with a healthy, homemade breakfast. I enjoy this in a mindful way on my balcony. As soon as I’m done with breakfast, I take some time to either watch a video by a Life Coach in New York who I follow or to read an article by another NY-based Life Coach, depending on what’s available.

Set Goals

Cold or hot coffee with oat milk and planning my day comes next. Living with intention is very important and that’s why I take time to decide on my to-do-list every single day. I don’t leave things to chance or go with the flow. I make an action plan for the steps that I can take to move forward in all of my life projects. This includes career, activities and personal life (social and love life).

You might think what love life is she talking about, being single and all?

The answer is simple: if you want to make positive changes in any area of your life, you must take considerable steps towards moving forward and evolving.
