Why I never booked a Tour in Bali
I’ve been visiting Bali solo since September 2016 and this was my first ever tour!
I think it’s mainly because my first Bali trip was a wellness and that’s what I kept coming back for in the next couple of years.
Then, even when I wasn’t visiting Bali for a wellness retreat, I still never thought of booking a structured tour. I always took things slow and I did my own thing.
Fast forward to a decade later and I finally booked an organized tour that I found on Airbnb Experiences.
The host, I Gusti Ngurah Parta Wijaja is a lifelong Denpasar resident and local who explains the island’s culture, religion and history in such great detail and clarity.
The three-our walking tour takes you on a cultural journey through beautiful temples, local homes, traditional markets and iconic cafes and eateries.
As someone who’s been visiting the magical island since a decade, I can tell you that I learned so much in this tour and I left with a fresh, new perspective on everything around me.
Ngurah is so friendly, professional, genuine and also very patient as our group had so many questions!
The guided tour takes you on a very exciting and insightful walk at the historic Gajah Mada Street in Denpasar, Bali.
I will add a link to the tour listing on Airbnb once I sort out some issues that I’m facing with adding links.
You can also book this incredible old Denpasar walking tour by contacting Ngurah directly on this WhatsApp number: +62 813 5322 0414
It’s also worth mentioning that this specific tour is featured in the latest Lonely Planet guidebooks for Bali! I only discovered this after I booked on Airbnb and then went to read my newly bought Lonely Planet Bali pocket guidebook to see what else I can see in Denpasar.
If you can do one cultural walking tour in Bali, then this should be your choice!
For now, here are some of my favorite tour moments!
