Celebrate the Small Wins To Achieve Big Goals

I’ve been feeling sad lately, and I shared the reason behind this feeling in this blog post about my recent Cyprus trip.

Since I returned from Cyprus about a month ago, I’ve been listening to a playlist to relax the nervous system – because that’s what I felt called to do. I just changed to another playlist yesterday – because it felt right to switch vibrations now.

On my last Bali trip pre-pandemic, I met an intuitive tarot card reader who even felt my sadness and asked if I was OK!

I told her I’d been feeling sad lately and embracing that feeling entirely. She gave me some kind and thoughtful tips.

But although I feel a bit better, I’m still allowing myself to feel all my emotions – including the negative ones.

I’m also not pushing myself to do anything I don’t feel like doing. For example, I’m taking things easy when writing blog posts. I’m also constantly procrastinating with my cleaning schedule tasks. That’s totally fine.

I finally managed to clean the apartment floor the other day. I’m now left with a few main things to clean.

What you can do when you feel sad or down is to sit entirely with your feelings. Let them be.

Don’t judge yourself for feeling down. Instead, feel the feeling until it’s time to move on to the next one.

Which is precisely what I did. Remember how I said that I feel a bit better these days? It’s not because I forced myself to be happy and upbeat. I also didn’t try to do something fun that would distract me from the real emotion – sadness.

Instead, I let myself feel the sadness and the hopelessness and sat with it for as long as it felt right.

Notice how I shared that I was listening to a playlist to relax the nervous system. That playlist has mostly healing and sad, melancholic tunes. But because that’s what my soul was craving at the time, I let it be.

And only when I wanted to start listening to 80’s love songs did I change to a different playlist with a happy vibe.

Another thing that I wanted to share with you today is to celebrate making little progress each day. If you feel like you’ve been stuck in a rut for a while, and then suddenly, you do something good for yourself, celebrate that!

I went for a nice long walk this morning, although it was windy. I also switched up my routine by going to a different cafe in a touristy part of town. It felt good to go for a long walk and have a good cup of coffee with a nice view.

What small things are you doing today to treat yourself with the kindness and respect it deserves?

Remember, these can be very simple and small things like taking a long, hot shower or applying a foot cream or hair mask.

I am leaving you with some pictures from this morning, and I will talk to you soon!
