Do you Feel Like you Simply Lost your Spark?

Major Realization

I basically realized that I don’t have interesting content from my recent Bali trip and that’s because I spent most of the trip going to coffee shops, shopping for skincare or walking at the beach or trekking.

What I also realized is that since doing the Osho workshops, I’ve been feeling miserable and like I don’t want to force myself to do anything fun or exciting. LOL

We’re talking since 2018 and 2019. So it’s been a really long time and I know that the deep energy healing group work that I did at the Osho center in Italy has a lot to do with this feeling.

Do you Feel Like you Lost your Spark?

A new friend who I met last year said: “Are we living? Or are we just surviving?

And her statement sums up this blog post and why I felt inspired to write this topic.

I will share with you honestly that since Dubai is now very busy and since I’m an empath, I’ve been going outside in the mornings only for the last couple of years.

My routine mainly consists of going for a walk, having coffee at Starbucks and then going grocery shopping. I’m usually back home by midday at the latest! I also don’t drive, so I’m intentional about getting back home before midday to avoid a heat stroke (and I still get these even in November!).

The only time that this routine changes is when I shop for gifts before a trip to Bali, my dad is in town or I’m meeting friends (which almost rarely happens since I already cut off all of my old friends in Dubai).

You might think that I’m exaggerating or being dramatic, but I’m sharing with you my daily routine with complete honesty.

Oh and I also stay home on most weekends, unless I need to get something urgent from the store (I don’t like using delivery services unless it’s for ordering bottled water).

To cut a long story short, I’ve been living in survival mode (when in Dubai only) for a couple of years now. I don’t mind it that much because my routine makes me feel good but the question is: When did I loose my spark for life?

Throwback to my First Ever Solo Trip

Back in December of 2012, I made my first ever solo trip for pure leisure and I went to Hong Kong.

I still remember how I used the hotel’s desktop PC to research where to go and what to do in my eight-day solo trip.

I also remember how strong-headed I was when I wanted to find a certain flower market that I read about online. The flower market was at the end of a specific outdoor market and it was hidden.

In that trip, I covered all the main touristy spots (the Peak, etc.) and the non-touristy, hidden places (I met a palm-reader at an ancient Chinese temple!).

I also briefly met an old friend who lives outside the city, in a small coastal town. I actually posted our photos together on my first and old blog.

You can read about my encounter with the Chinese palm reader at the temple here.

The crazy part about this story is that the palm reader told me this: “You will be happy from age 40 and over.”

I was only 32 at that time and I’m 45 and a half now. I was shocked today, when I remembered her words!

She was so accurate, because only with this Mercury Retrograde, do I feel a powerful shift and breakthrough. I feel more calm, grounded, content and at peace with everything.

How to Shift out of Survival Mode and into Living Life to the Fullest

I can’t tell you that I’m in that state of feeling like I’m living life to the fullest, because I’m not! Haha.

I can only share with you some tips of what I do to help me feel excited about life and get me out of that funk and feeling low or apathetic about everything.

My Tips:

  • Travel! I’m planning another trip to Bali next month. But what I did differently this time, I connected with some old and new friends to plan to meet up when I’m there.
  • Plan activities and itineraries for yourself. I recently bought the new Lonely Planet Bali Pocket Guidebook and the idea is to explore more of the island when I’m staying in the different areas.
  • Connect with like-minded people and be intentional about keeping in touch and planning meetups.
  • Sage smudge your space on a regular basis to keep negative energy away. Plus, declutter and keep your place clean at all times.
  • Create a daily routine that makes you feel energized. This can be going for a mindful walk, jog or having a good cup of coffee at your favorite cafe.
  • Meditate, journal or go for mindful walks at the beach or park.
  • Try new cafes, restaurants, treat yourself to your favorite food or dessert.
  • Learn a new hobby or practice an old one. For me, this has to be cooking. Of course, when I’m in Dubai only.
