Peaceful sunset vibes from the Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi’s seaview room balcony
This post was meant to be a hotel review for an Abu Dhabi resort. But since the staycation didn’t go as planned, I decided to turn this into a personal post and redo the hotel stay sometime in September hopefully!
I spent the weekend at the secluded and private Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi on Saadiyat Island. The island is a relatively new development, the beach is stunning and the resort is very exclusive and luxurious. The reason that I chose not to review it this time is that my itinerary didn’t go as planned. Firstly, the spa was fully booked and I couldn’t book a treatment. Secondly, I wasn’t able to visit the Rooftop Bar at the Beach House restaurant which was the main thing I was looking forward to in my stay!
What happened was that since it was a long weekend, the spa was busy and they were fully booked in the decent timings. The only available time slots were the times when people would be lounging by the beach or having breakfast. So, I opted for a relaxing dip in the jet pool instead. I know, how sad.
The Rooftop Bar at the Beach House restaurant is supposedly one of the best spots to watch the sunset in Abu Dhabi. That’s why I was really excited to go there after my beach day on Friday to take nice sunset photos. As I walk in to the hotel from the beach, I read a sign that says that the Rooftop will be closed for a private event. I even checked with the front desk and went there myself in the evening to check if there was really an event!
I tried to take a good sunset picture from my seaview room’s balcony, but I wasn’t successful. Anyway, that’s why I won’t be writing a review this time. I’ll wait until I go back in September and do a proper one then.
The highlight of the resort is the beach. Pristine white sands, clear blue waters. Simply divine. I even saw someone snorkeling. Honestly, I don’t know if I can visit Dubai beaches after experiencing Saadiyat Beach.
The resort is family-friendly and ideal for couples. I wouldn’t recommend it for solo travelers as you can feel out of place like I did. It has a very romantic vibe to it. A lot of European expats were there. Couples of all ages. So it seems to be popular with the Western tourists/Abu Dhabi expats.
The water temperature was just right. The sun was shining and it was perfect beach weather this past weekend. I even got sun burns from staying in the ocean for a long time, that’s how good it was!
If I had to describe the resort in one word, then it would be: peaceful. Honestly, it’s perfect for an exclusive escape from the fast-paced city life. As one cab driver told me: “the hotel is ideal for meditation.” And that’s exactly what I did after a day at the beach on Friday. I sat in my balcony waiting for sunset time to take a good picture (which didn’t happen) and listened to the birds chirping. It was a much-needed moment of peace and presence. The ambiance is very therapeutic. Just as the cab driver summed it: perfect for meditation.
Despite not being able to get a massage at the exclusive Atarmia Spa or watch a beautiful sunset from the Rooftop Bar’s terrace, those moments of peace and tranquility that I had to myself at my room’s balcony were priceless. With the lifestyle being at a slower pace in Abu Dhabi, one can take time to pause and reflect on his/her life and to be in the present moment for a change.
I’m so thankful that I had that brief respite at the secluded Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi. I must admit that I did venture out into the city on Thursday night looking for life outside of Saadiyat Island. I also went out for dinner and some dancing on Friday night at the neighbouring St. Regis Saadiyat Island. More on that hotel in July when it’s time for another Abu Dhabi staycation.
As Ramadan approaches, I truly hope that we all get a chance to be more spiritual, take life at a slower pace and to silence our minds and listen to our souls more.
